The main aim of the International Day for Older Persons is to recognise the contribution made by the senior citizens in the human and economic development and also draw attention to the opportunities and challenges of global demographic ageing.
South Africa as part of the International community of nations has committed itself to commemorate, observe and honour this day in recognition of the contribution made by senior citizens in shaping democratic dispensation of South Africa.
The event will be held under the following theme: “Young or old, we are part of the same mould”
