Infrastructure development and job creation to dominate Premier Modise’s SOPA

Infrastructure development and job creation are expected to feature prominently in North West Premier Mme Thandi Modise’s State of the Province Address to be delivered from the University of the North West Mafikeng Campus-Great Hall on Friday 17 February 2012.

The Premier’s speech to mark the opening of the North West Provincial Legislature is to be broadcast Live on Motsweding FM and Regional Community Radio Stations as from 10h00 to 11h00 and is expected to outline achievements, challenges and programme of action to accelerate service delivery and increase the momentum to drive back unemployment, reduce economic inequality and poverty.

The Provincial Executive Council chaired by Premier Modise recently resolved to intensify the fight against corruption and defend state land and properties without unduly jeopardising against citizens and entities that are seeking transfers of such having followed all legal processes and procedures.

Seventy-two- year old mother of six, Sophy Mbele of Modimola village outside Mahikeng expects the Premier’s speech to address crime as stock theft impoverishes many subsistence farmers in villages.

University of the North West Mafikeng Campus 1st year sociology student, 19 year-old-Katlego Tlhabela expects the Premier to outline the provincial government’s support for needy students and interventions to end potholes. 

Retired engineer Hannes Schutte expressed optimism that the  Premier would augment  roads, infrastructure and water provision projects announced by President Jacob Zuma last week to accelerate infrastructure development by appointing competent and qualified service providers.

Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, Former Premiers Popo Molefe, Edna Molewa, Maureen Modiselle, Ambassadors, Former Members of Parliament and Members of the Provincial Legislatures are expected to be among the 3500 invited guests who are expected to be seated by 9h00 for proceedings commence.
