Information Bill hearings hit Eastern Cape

The National Council of Provinces’ Ad Hoc Committee on the Protection of State Information Bill will continue with its open consultation process when public hearings are staged in three areas in the Eastern Cape tomorrow (2 February 2012).

This follows the successful start of the public hearings in the Western Cape on Tuesday.

For the Eastern Cape hearings, the 15-member committee will be divided into three groups, with the first group heading to Nangoza Jebe Hall in the Nelson Mandela Bay.

The second and third groups will conduct public hearings at Vulindlela Heights (OR Tambo District) and Barkley East Town Hall (Joe Qadi District) respectively.

In keeping up with Parliament's role of ensuring public participation in the law making process, ordinary citizens and organisations will be able to make input at the sessions.
