The Electoral Commission (IEC) will be hosting a national summit in preparation for the 2011 Municipal Elections at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on 3 March 2011.
As you might be aware, the elections will be held anytime between March and May 2011. The importance of holding these elections in an environment conducive to free and fair elections cannot be over emphasised. It is against this background that the Electoral Commission is organising this summit.
The Commission hopes to create a platform for strategic partners and stakeholders to engage on this important topic. Delegates invited, include representatives from political parties, chapter 9 institutions, faith-based and civil society organisations, relevant non-governmental organisations, embassies, high commissions and the media.
The theme of the conference is Promoting Electoral Democracy Together.
