Resulting from discussions by the Free State Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Mangaung Metro Municipality and SEDA in the Free State Province there will be a signing ceremony by RAHI DEVELOPERS (investors from United Emirates Arabs) and ORA FLORICULTURE COOPERATIVE (export cooperatives) which will take place on the 12 July 2012 at Protea Hotel, Willow Lake in Bloemfontein at 17h00 pm with the aim of developing the said cooperative and in turn create jobs.
The company will produce indigenous South African Flower bulbs named ZANTEDESCHIA i.e. Zant for spring and summer & Babiana for autumn and winter. These flower bulbs will be produced and grown in a greenhouses and tunnels. To start the operation, 23 tunnels are earmarked, and they will cover approximately 12 hectors of land surface and each tunnel will require twenty full time intensive labourers.
The company will also manufacture and produce its own flower pot according to specification needed by importers/buyers. The labour requirement for the entire project will be 800 people excluding managers and technicians. The large proportion of this manpower will be utilised at the operation farm in the greenhouses and more than 300 work force will be employed on 24hrs shift-basis at the flower pot factory.
Rural community around the operation farm which is between Bloemfontein, Botshabelo and Thaba Nchu will benefit in terms of infrastructure improvement or development.
