Deputy Home Affairs Minister Fatima Chohan, will today Tuesday, 20 March 2012 together with other senior departmental officials deliver identity documents to 243 victims of fires which broke out in an informal settlement in Langa, Western Cape on 6 and 12 March 2012 respectively.
Coming within the context of Human Rights Day on Wednesday, 21 March 2012 the Deputy Minister's interaction with the community gives expression to the department's commitment to ensuring the victims of the fire have their dignity restored with the issuance of identity documents which will enable them to, amongst others, receive their social grants later on Tuesday, 20 March 2012.
In this regard, senior Home Affairs officials in the province earlier today Monday, 19 March 2012 handed out a further 101 enabling documents to victims of the fires.
