The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in partnership with the Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs, as well as the Thabo Mofutsanyane district municipality and Setsoto local municipality will spearhead the hosting of the 2009 provincial Heritage Day celebration.
The event will be hosted under the following arrangements:

It is the second consecutive year that the provincial Heritage Day celebration will be hosted in the Setsoto municipality. The aim is to showcase the Eastern Free State region as the tourist attraction destination given its natural beauty and landscapes. The cultural landscape of the area also serves as background for the hosting of Heritage Day.
Expected to attend the event are the Executive Council of the Free State provincial government led by Premier Ace Magashule, the Free State legislature, representatives from the Kingdom of Lesotho, the Free State House of Traditional Leaders, representatives of Houses of Traditional Leaders from KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape, as well as several other dignitaries and stakeholders. The event will be attended by about 15 000 community members from across Free State.
The programme of the day will showcase different cultural groups through traditional food, music and attire. The celebration will be staged under the national theme: ‘Celebrating our Crafts, Our Heritage’ customised to: ‘Bonono, Letlotlo la Rona’, for the Free State.
