Health Minister to receive top award

Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, will depart tomorrow for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to receive the special annual appreciation award in recognition of his contribution to healthcare and medical education.

This is the first time this award is being bestowed on anyone. The award, to be given during the sixth annual Convocation Ceremony at the Gulf
Medical University on Monday, 19 April 2010, will be bestowed by His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Ruler of Ajman and Member of UAE Supreme Council.

During his visit, the health Minister is also scheduled to meet with his counterpart His Excellency Dr Hanif Hassan to discuss issues of mutual interest between the two countries.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1994 followed by South Africa opening an embassy in Abu Dhabi in 1995.
