Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi will tomorrow, 23 August address a media conference on the outcomes of the two day consultative summit on the use of infant formula in South Africa. The summit started in Pretoria this morning and it is attended by Health MECs, Head of Deparments (HODs), senior government policy makers, representatives of traditional leaders and non governmental organisations (NGOs).
Addressing delegates at the start of the summit this morning the Health Minister expressed his concerns around the low rate of exclusive breastfeeding in South Africa attributing it to aggressive promotion by manufacturers and distributors of formula milk.
