Health Minister to address inaugural Health Leadership Dialgue Series

Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi will tomorrow, 28 March address the inaugural Health Leadership Dialogue Series held under the auspices of the African Institute of Health and Leadership.

Held under the theme "Towards a Common National Strategic Agenda for Health in South Africa" the dialogue series brings together key influential policy and opinion-makers in both government and private sector. "The Institute seeks to harness the country's intellectual resources so that through collective action and responsibility, all health sub-sectors can work together towards the same national goal", said Institute Founder and Executive Director Dr Percy Mahlathi.

The inaugural dialogue comes a few days after the Health Minister's announcement of the 11 districts for the piloting of the National Health Insurance (NHI). "We have said it before and we continue to say it even now: the private sector is an important partner in the delivery of quality healthcare in our country. This dialogue series certainly points us in the right direction in terms of what we have to do as a country in delivering healthcare to our citizens, rich and poor", said the health Minister.

Apart from the health Minister other speakers scheduled to address the meeting tomorrow are Dr Bevan Goqwana (Chairperson of the health Portfolio Committee in Parliament), Dr Nkaki Matlala (Hospital Association of South Africa) and Mr Nicolaou Stavros (Aspen Pharm care).
