Health Minister to address the Health Professions Council gathering


Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi will, this evening, address the new Council of the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) at its inaugural gathering in Sheraton Hotel, Tshwane.

The HPCSA provides a critical role in the country's quality of healthcare by ensuring that the 12 professional boards operating under its auspices provide guidance to over 180 000 registered healthcare professionals in South Africa.

The benefits of the HPCSA's single overarching administrative umbrella over all the disciplines it represents includes implementation of standardised policy resolutions across all professions including registration of both local and foreign qualified practitioners, continuing professional development, quality assurance of training institutions, generic ethical rules applicable to all practitioners, greater consistency of disciplinary findings and improved corporate governance.

Members of the media are invited to attend this inaugural gathering of the Council to interact with the Minister and new members of the Council.
