Health Minister Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi and the UNAIDS will on Thursday (19/07) launch new global HIV data from the 2012 Global AIDS report and release the 2011 South Africa prevention from mother to child transmission (PMTCT) impact study report.
The 2011 South Africa PMTCT impact study will provide information on the progress and challenges in the PMTCT programme to give indication if the country is managing the decline in the new HIV infections among children.
"The elimination of mother-to-child transmission agenda is a significant priority for South African government and aligns to global targets set in the political declaration of the 2011 General Assembly High-Level meeting on AIDS.
The new Global HIV data and the PMTCT impact study report are released on the eve of the International AIDS conference in Washington DC.
