The handing out of vouchers to Mpenjathi Community Claim

The Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Mr Lechesa Tsenoli cordially invites members of the Media to be part of the hand out of vouchers worth R34, 210, 900. 00 million to 626 land claimants who are community members from Mpenjathi Community Claim.

These communities were removed under the Native Act of 1913 and had to vacate from their ancestral land to the outskirts of KwaZulu-Natal. They lodged their claims under the Restitution programme before the cut of date on 31 December 1998 and opted for financial compensation. The Commission on Restitution of Land Rights has since approved their land claim request.

A total of 626 beneficiaries from Mpenjathi community claim will benefit from the R34, 210,900.00 million as part of their land claim request.
