More than 200 local and provincial government practitioners across the province who had undergone an NQF Level 3 training in local government accounting with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and the Association of Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) will receive their certificates at a graduation ceremony to be held on Wednesday, 25 April 2012 at 11h00, Ben Marais Hall in Rustenburg.
The purpose of this training was to improve the skills of local government practitioners within the Budget and Treasury Offices of municipalities to enable them to perform their financial management functions properly in line with recognised municipal finance management practices. It was also aimed at preparing the landscape to support municipalities to comply with the National Treasury requirements for minimum competency requirements for Municipal Finance officials by 2013 as gazetted.
The training was a partnership between the North West Department of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, South African Local Government Association (SALGA), the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and the Association of Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT)
