Gauteng Department of Local Government and Housing MEC Kgaogelo Lekgoro accompanied by Premier Nomvula Mokonyane and the Tshwane Metro Executive Mayor Dr Gwen Ramokgopa will on Thursday (16 September 2010) launch the Winterveld Urban Renewal Programme (URP) in Tshwane.
The project will redevelop Winterveldt into a sustainable human settlement. the Project is expected to build and expand existing infrastructure including Health care Facilities, schools, parks and community centers. About34 307 housing units will be delivered by the project in 8 to ten years. Part of the programme is to redistribute land to 15 000 families through the purchase and expropriation of 103 small farms (626 hectares).
