The South African Government and Civil society will convene a two-day colloquium from Tuesday 8 to Wednesday 9 December 2009. The colloquium will be held at Willow Park Conference Centre in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni.
The colloquium is facilitated by The Presidency and the Southern Africa Trust, under the leadership of Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe. It is intended to foster relations to fight poverty.
The Deputy President as the Anti-Poverty Champion will lead a roundtable discussion on “Renewing the Pledge: Working Together with Social Partners to Fight Poverty”.
The conference forms part of a series of consultations to obtain input from different stakeholders (government, civil society, labour and business) on the National Anti-Poverty Strategy.
The Southern African Trust recently facilitated a series of provincial engagements for various stakeholders and the outcomes will further be deliberated at the colloquium.
