The Gauteng Department of Education in partnership with Crime Line and the South African Police Service (SAPS) will launch the “Young Crime Liners” initiative in a bid to tackle the increasing number of criminal incidences and social issues in the province’s schools.
The launch on Wednesday, 30 October, will be marked with a keynote address by MEC Barbara Creecy and representatives from Crime Line and the SAPS during a special assembly with learners at the Mosupatsela Secondary School in Kagiso on the West Rand.
The initiative is set to provide learners from across Gauteng with tools to report crime and social issues anonymously with the aim of not only rooting out criminal behaviour, but also providing social interventions towards incidence of bullying and abuse.
