World Remembrance Day for accidents victims to be held in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga

Transport Minister Dikobe Benedict Martins and Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Vusi Shongwe will lead a World Remebrance Day for the victims and survivors of road accidents in Mpumalanga at Emalahleni Municipality’s Lynville Stadium on Thursday.

The World Day of Remembrance for road traffic victims takes place every year in November as the appropriate acknowledgment of victims of road traffic crashes and their families. This day was started by Road Peace in 1993 and was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2005.

It is therefore against this background that Minister Martins and MEC Shongwe are inviting the public to observe the day whilst enhancing awareness on road safety. The event is part the Festive Season Sekwanele Bopha Campaign launch.

As part of the programme, the entourage will also visit the spots which claimed most lives and left many people injured from accidents.
