Western Cape unveils plans for Manenberg, 22 Jul

Historic plans for Manenberg to be unveiled by Premier Zille and Mayor De Lille

Tomorrow, 22 July 2015, Western Cape Premier Helen Zille; City of Cape Town Executive Mayor, Patricia De Lille; Western Cape Minister of Health, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo; Western Cape Minister for Community Safety, Dan Plato; and City of Cape Town Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith will unveil ground-breaking plans for socio-economic development initiatives in Manenberg.

In her State of the Province Address (SOPA) this year, Premier Zille announced plans to develop a Youth Lifestyle Centre in Manenberg in partnership with the City of Cape Town. Since then, the City has been working to develop an investment framework that will inform a grand design for development in Manenberg.

Tomorrow, Premier Zille and Mayor De Lille will unveil this framework and set out a vision that will not only benefit the youth, but the people of Manenberg as a whole. This plan will tackle some of the biggest challenges that have ravaged our communities for years. It will focus on advancing safety, education, healthcare, technology and innovation, while promoting social cohesion and the development of small business opportunities.

All media are invited to attend.
