Western Cape Premier Helen Zille to host 110% GREEN campaign anniversary event

Western Cape Premier Helen Zille will host the one-year anniversary event of the launch of the Western Cape Government’s 110% GREEN campaign at the Violence Prevention through Urban Upgrading (VPUU) project site in Khayelitsha.

The campaign is an initiative to advance the growth of the green economy in the province through raising awareness, facilitating networks and giving official recognition to “green pioneers” who are shifting to becoming low-carbon, resource-efficient and creating new economic opportunities. The campaign was first announced by Premier Zille in her 2012 State of the Province Address and was launched on World Environment Day with identified flagship organisations.

Report-backs will be given on the impact achieved by the founding flagship projects in the past year and Premier Zille will welcome a further 20 flagship projects to the campaign, who will receive a signed 110% GREEN flag.

Media are invited to attend and there will be opportunities for photos and interviews.

Details are below:
Date: Tuesday, 4 June 2012
Time: 11h00
Venue: Harare Square, VPUU project site, Khayelitsha

(NB: Media are invited to join Premier Zille and other guests on the bus that will travel to Khayelitsha and back, in an effort to minimise the event’s carbon footprint by reducing the use of cars to the venue. The bus will depart from outside the 7 Wale Street entrance to Khayelitsha at 10h15 and depart from Khayelitsha by 13h30)
