Parliament to debate state of Western Cape's small harbours
At a sitting this afternoon, the Western Cape Provincial Parliament will debate the state of the province’s small boat harbours.
The province’s coastal economy has the potential to deliver a significant economic boost, particularly for local fishing communities.
Harbours play a critical role in creating jobs and attracting investment. The Western Cape accounts for 71% of employment in the fishing industry alone.
Alan Winde, Minister of Economic Opportunities, will participate in the debate.
