Western Cape hosts international Business Process Outsourcing summit, 4 to 6 Mar

The Western Cape will host the world’s leading companies, international investors and analysts for the South African Outsourcing and Offshoring Summit 2015.

Alan Winde, MEC of Economic Opportunities, said the summit was an ideal opportunity to showcase the strength of the Western Cape’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) offering.

The summit is presented by the Business Process Enabling South Africa (BPeSA) and takes place in Cape Town between 4 March and 6 March.

MEC Winde said the sector was a key employer.

“There are just over 40 000 people, mostly youth, employed in the industry. Going forward, there are significant opportunities to grow the Western Cape’s market share in niche segments of BPO, such as the LPO sector. In this province, economic growth and jobs are our number one priority. That is why we continue to support the growth of this sector. BPeSA is playing a critical role in marketing our region to contact centre heavyweights across the globe. This summit is an ideal platform to showcase the competitive advantage the Western Cape has a leading BPO location,” said Minister Winde.

Gareth Pritchard, CEO of BPeSA, said: “This is the biggest event of the year for our sector and we are excited about the opportunities it will bring to South Africa.”
