The Western Cape Department of Agriculture is set to launch a R3 million dedicated research fund.
Alan Winde, MEC of Economic Opportunities, will attend the launch of the Alternative Crops Fund on Tuesday.
The fund will focus on new and alternative crops, powering economic development and job creation in these smaller industries.
This fund is set to boost innovation and research in the province’s agri-business sector. It is also expected to advance agro-processing and secure new export markets for Western Cape products and bolster developing farmers.
