The latest projections for the Western Cape and South Africa agricltural sector will be released this week.
The Bureau for Food and Agricultural Policy (BFAP) baseline will be launched at the Lord Charles Hotel in Somerset West on Friday, 31 July 2015.
Researchers from the Universities of Pretoria, Stellenbosch and Western Cape Department of Agriculture collaborated to produce the projections. Their findings cover key trends in the Western Cape and South African agricultural sector.
Economic Opportunities Minister Alan Winde said the baseline provided wide-ranging projections for the sector.
“Africa is a primary focus of research as the continent features more prominently on provincial and national agendas. Researchers use economic modeling to provide a medium and long-term outlook of various industries in the South African agricultural sector. They also investigate how projected situations will impact farms and consumers.”
