Water and Sanitation hosts women’s event in Vredendal, 14 Aug

South Africa commemorates Women’s Month in August as a tribute to the more than 20 000 women who marched to the Union Buildings on 9 August 1956 in protest against the extension of pass laws to women. The democratic government of South Africa subsequently declared August Women’s Month.

The Theme for the 2015 Women’s Month is “Women United in Moving South Africa Forward”.

The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) through its regions will organise Women’s Day activities to empower women on Water and Sanitation issues.

As part of Women’s Month, the Western Cape Province will host a Women’s Day event in Vredendal on Friday 14 August 2015.
