The Department of Water and Sanitation in Gauteng Province will on Friday, 06 March 2026 host the Baswa le Meetse (BLM) Provincial Adjudication in Meyerton, Gauteng.
The BLM provincial adjudications follow a series of competitions by various primary schools in Gauteng, as supported by the Department’s Water and Sanitation Education Programme (WSEP). The programme empowers primary and secondary schools to develop innovative, water-related projects that address water and sanitation challenges within their schools and surrounding communities.
Established in 2003 as a Ministerial initiative, Baswa le Meetse competitions recognises and celebrates the vital role of young people in promoting integrated water resource management, sanitation, health, and hygiene practices. The competition is aimed at Grade 5 and 6 learners and provides a creative platform for environmental advocacy through five categories:
- Music
- Poetry
- Drama
- Poster

The Provincial Adjudication will showcase learners’ innovative ideas and creative expressions in advancing water conservation and sustainable sanitation practices.
