The Water and Sanitation Department will on Friday, 10 May 2024 host the Gauteng South African Youth Water Prize competition in the City of Johannesburg, City Parks, and Zoo Environment Centre.
The competition is part of the Department’s Water and Sanitation Education Programme (WSEP) which is a school-based education initiative aimed at educating learners and society about water resources management issues including but not limited to water use efficiency, water quality monitoring and management, protection of the of water resources, public awareness about health and hygiene, and invasive alien species.
There are cash prizes for the first to third position provincial winner together with their respective schools. The first position at the provincial level will represent the province at the national level of the competition where eventual winners will then represent the country at the Stockholm Junior Water Prize in Sweden.
