The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) will hold the National Consultation Meeting on the proposed 2027/28 Raw Water Use Charges on Thursday, 27 August 2026, at the OR Tambo Protea Hotel in Johannesburg, Gauteng.
The National Consultation Meeting forms part of the Department’s annual process of determining Raw Water Use Charges. It follows the sector-specific consultation held on 13 August 2026, which provided water-user sectors with an opportunity to engage on the proposed charges, raise concerns and provide inputs.
The purpose of the National Consultation Meeting is to present the outcomes of the sector-specific consultation, provide feedback on the economic analysis undertaken in relation to the proposed Raw Water Use Charges and present the final proposed charges that will be recommended to the Minister for approval.
The consultation process is an important part of ensuring transparency and stakeholder participation in the determination of Raw Water Use Charges. It enables affected water-user sectors and other relevant stakeholders to provide inputs before the proposed charges are finalised for implementation in the 2027/28 financial year.
