Baswa Le Meetse prize handover at Benjamin Primary School
The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) will officially handover the Baswa Le Meetse prize to Benjamin Primary School in Matsulu on 09 November 2020.
Benjamin Primary School attained position three in the traditional music category at the national adjudications of the Baswa Le Meetse competition.
The Baswa Le Meetse (BLM) competition is one of the key projects in the DWS 2020 Vision for Water and Sanitation Education Programme aimed at enticing the youth to actively participate in the water sector and become water ambassadors in their communities. The Baswa Le Meetse project targets learners in the grades of the foundation phase in schools and it uses art as a medium to get the message across. Art is recognized as a powerful tool for educating society about water, sanitation, invasive alien plants, health and hygiene, and the protection of the water resources. The message is spread across through art forms that include music, drama, poetry, praise poetry and posters.
