Treasury hosts webinar on Draft Public Procurement Bill, 21 Oct

On 19 February 2020, the Minister of Finance published the draft Public Procurement Bill for public comments, closing on 31 May 2020 and duly extended to close on 30 June 2020. More than 4 500 comments have been received and consolidated. December 2020 is the anticipated completion period for the review of comments.

The purpose of the Bill is to elevate Public Procurement to a statute level with a distinct custodianship through a Public Procurement Regulator that would prescribe a framework envisaged in section 217(3) of the Constitution to regulate it, and provide for matters connected therewith which will be applicable to all organs of state. The Public Procurement Bill will, when enacted, prescribe a single regulatory framework for all public procurement.

Media are invited to attend a webinar that will take the form of a workshop aimed at informing attendees on the key principles of the Draft Bill, as a way forward.

Date: 21 October 2020
Time: 10:00 – 11:30
