Transport Minister, Honourable Dipuo Peters will officially launch the National 2014 Easter Road Safety campaign on Thursday, 10 April 2014 in Kimberly, Northern Cape.
In the continued effort to spread the message of road safety and in line with the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety Campaign 2011/20, Minister Peters and the entourage will interact with motorists, passengers, pedestrians, community members and the media during the launch.
The Minister will emphasise and call upon all road users, public transport operators (short and long distance), private motorists, passengers and pedestrians to take personal responsibility for their safety on the roads as they will be travelling to various destinations during the Easter holidays.
Minister Peters will be joined during the launch by the Premier of the Northern Cape Honourable Sylvia Lucas, provincial MECs for Roads and Transport and Community Safety and Liaison, senior national and provincial transport and government officials, members of the community and the media.
As part of the official launch, Minister Peters will also outline the national road safety plans for the Easter period onwards to reduce the carnage on South Africa’s roads.
