Transport Minister, Honourable Dikobe Ben Martins will officially unveil the newly completed runway of the Mthatha Airport in the Eastern Cape Province on Monday, 8 July 2013. The Minister will also do a site tour and inspection of other refurbished areas within the airport precinct which include three hangers that were recently upgraded.
During the official unveiling, the Minister will be joined by the Premier of the Eastern Cape, Honourable Noxolo Kieviet, MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport in the Eastern Cape, Ms. Thandiswa Marawu, the MEC for Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Mr. Mlibo Qoboshiyane, Executive Mayors of the King Sabata Dalindyebo and Nyandeni Local as well as the OR Tambo District Municipalities.
Later in the day Minister Martins will engage with members of the community at the Libode Town Hall in the Nyandeni Local Municipality regarding road infrastructure development in the area.

On Tuesday, 9 July, Minister Martins will visit the Integrated Public Transport Operations Centre in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality in Port Elizabeth. He will also use the opportunity to inspect the efficiency of the Bus Rapid Transit system there.
The purpose of the visit will be to gauge progress made and understand the possible challenges faced by the city with regard to the implementation of the Integrated Passenger Transport System – Ibhongo Lethu. Minister Martins will also visit the Port of Ngqura.
