Transport Minister, Honourable Dikobe Ben Martins will host a breakfast meeting to hand over the Torch of Peace to Basic Education Minister, Honourable Angie Motshekga as part of the Safer Schools and Safer Roads programme.
This partnership from the departments emphasises the importance of road safety in the learning and teaching environment and serves as an appeal to the transport sector involved in Scholar Transport to pledge and commit to "Safer School Transport" for the learners across the country.
The Ministers will be joined by both Deputy Ministers of Transport and Basic Education, together with provincial Transport MECs, Transport Director-General, CEOs of government department agencies, senior government officials, the Executive Management of private sector organisations and stakeholders in the transport sector.
