Department of Transport and Transport B-BBEE Charter Council visits Eastern Cape for Roadshow
The Department of Transport together with the Transport Sector Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Charter Council will visit Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape Province on Thursday, 12 November 2015.
Charter Council’s members will engage with the transport sector and industry stakeholders in the province on B-BBEE with regards to its implementation, identifying challenges and proposing interventions across all sub-sectors in the context of exercising oversight roles through redressing the apartheid legacy of economic exclusion.
The Charter Council will also engage with industry stakeholders on issues of B-BBEE opportunities to seek out collaboration with other sectors of the economy which are linked to transport such as mining, energy, agriculture and manufacturing. The Charter Council will also leverage opportunities through state transport expenditure via the State Owned Companies such as Eskom and Transnet among others, and the Department of Trade and Industry through the Black Industrialist Programme.
Thursday’s visit by the Charter Council is part of the national roadshows that are been conducted by the Charter Council. Provinces such as Limpopo, North West, Mpumalanga and Northern Cape have already held the roadshows.
