Transport Deputy Minister, Honourable Sindisiwe Chikunga will bring under the spotlight the critical role of Women in Road-Construction during a robust Round Table discussion and engagement to be held in Balito, KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, 23 August 2014.
To be held under the theme "Empowering Women in Infrastructure", the discussions will bring around the Table transport sector women empowerment structures and personalities with the objective of radically advancing women and youth economic empowerment programmes in the transport sector.
This is in line with the pronouncements of the State President for tangible transformation of the transport sector and a much more meaningful role to be played by women and youth in the sector.
Leading the Round Table in celebration of women's month, Deputy Minister Chikunga will be joined by a diversified, all-female panel comprising contractors to
SANRAL, the SANRAL Acting Board Chairperson, a representative from the SA Women in Construction, an SMME beneficiary from SANRAL and a representative from the SA National Women in Transport (SANWIT), as well as SANRAL project managers.
The MEC for Roads and Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Honourable Willies Mchunu will also join the Deputy Minister during the Round Table.
The Round Table is hosted by the South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) in partnership with the Progressive Professionals Forum (PPF).
