The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies, invites members of the media to a media briefing on the Intellectual Property Policy, Removal of Adverse Credit Information, and Credit Amendment Bill.
The main focus of the three documents are as follows:
Intellectual Property Policy
This relates to a draft policy that was published for public comments. The policy addresses pertinent aspects such as:
- Substantive search and Examination of Patents
- Access to Public Health
- Access to Education and learning material
- Coordination of Intellectual Property and other policies such as Trade Policy,
- Technology Transfer, and Promotion of Innovation.
Removal of Adverse Credit Information
The Notice was published for comments and entails a proposal to remove all adverse credit information, which will allow consumers that can afford credit to have access to credit.
National Credit Amendment Bill
The amendment bill seeks to close legislative gaps in the NCA especially in the areas relating to debt counselling and debt review processes. It also aims to improve oversight relating to credit matters by introducing provisions for alternative dispute resolution and guidelines for affordability assessments.
