The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti), in partnership with Radio Turf will host a youth seminar at the University of Limpopo in Turfloop, Polokwane on Wednesday, 24 June 2015.
The purpose of the seminar is to raise awareness among the youth on how to access financial and non-financial assistance from the dti and government agencies. It also aims to encourage them to establish businesses in an effort to create employment for themselves and other members of their community.
The seminar is in line with the youth month celebrations theme “Youth Action for Economic Freedom in Our Lifetime” and this will be a step forward for the youth in realising their entrepreneurial dreams.
The seminar will be in the form of short presentations on the products, services and programmes offered by the department to the youth. This is done to stimulate youth economic empowerment through youth enterprise creation,” says Medupe.
The department administers different incentives to support entrepreneurs and these will be communicated at the seminar to enable the youth to access them.
The Deputy Station Manager of Radio Turf Mr Makwena Mamadi says the community radio station is happy to be part of this initiative which assists them to fulfil their mandate of disseminating information to the youth of Mankweng and surrounding areas.
Mamadi says Radio Turf has always been part of community development and aims to change the lives of young people through providing such information.
The youth will have an opportunity to interact with officials from the dti and other government agencies including the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda), Small Enterprise Finance Agency (Sefa), The Limpopo Department of Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET). The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC), National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), and Industrial Development Incentive Administration Division (IDIAD) of the dti will also be at the event to communicate their services.
