The Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) and the Egyptian Ministry of Industry and Trade will be hosting a trade and investment opportunities business seminar at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park from 18-19 February 2013 starting at 9h00.
The seminar is part of the implementation process of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed by South Africa and Egypt in August 2009, highlighting the commitment of both countries to enhance and promote economic relations.
With a positive response from the Egyptian business community, and over one hundred and twenty representatives of business and government officials from both countries, participants will engage in discussions to promote bilateral trade and investment opportunities.
Egypt is an important economy in North Africa and has one of the largest economies in Africa. These factors along with the recent political changes in Egypt present an opportunity to strengthen bilateral ties.
Key areas of focus will include agriculture and agro-processing, chemicals, Information Communication Technology, tourism, construction and engineering, mining, transport and maritime services. The seminar will provide an excellent opportunity for Egyptian and South African companies to exchange experiences and ideas in their respective sectors with a view to conducting trade and investment.
