Tourism to host a community engagement on infrastructure initiatives near the Kruger National Park’s Shangoni Gate
The Department of Tourism in collaboration with the Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET) will host a community engagement to discuss the progress related to the infrastructure projects that are being built to drive tourism to the Kruger National Park’s (KNP) Shangoni Gate and the surrounding communities.
The Deputy Minister of Tourism Mr. Fish Mahlalela and the executives of LEDET, COGHTA, the Vhembe District Municipality, and the Collins Chabane Local Municipality will lead the discussions that will highlight the significance of infrastructure initiatives in uplifting communities, and in creating robust local economies that create sustainable opportunities for all.
The event takes place as South Africa commemorates Freedom Month in April. The community engagement will acknowledge the democratic strides gained in bring tourism closer to the people, and in ensuring active community participation in government initiatives to build viable tourism economies to address the triple threat of poverty, unemployment and inequality.
