The Department of Tourism, through its Social Responsibility Implementation (SRI) Programme, will host a graduation ceremony to honour students in the Western Cape who participated in the Tourism Buddies progammme in the 2014/15 financial year.
Deputy Minister Tokozile Xasa, will officiate over the ceremony where students will receive their Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA) accredited National Certificate in Accommodation Services NQF Level 2, and National Certificate in Food and Beverages NQF level 4.
In the 2014/2015 financial year, the Department of Tourism approved the training of learners in the Western Cape area. The learners enrolled on a 12 month learnership programme composed of 30% theory and 70% practical training, during which they were placed at various hospitality establishments within the province for workplace training.
