The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation will host a talent search and selection of the best performing, visual artists and crafters in the Thabo Mofutsanyana District. The primary objective of the talent search and selection is to adjudicate the talent in the district in order to be able to identify “best of the best” artists to access exit opportunities as offered by Vryfees, MACUFE and other festivals.
The talent search and selection programme will further assist the department in updating the database of performers, visual artists and crafters in the district for further development and showcasing of the talent of the artists and crafters in the district.
Visual artists and crafters are encouraged to present three (3) items at the talent search and have to bring along their CVs and a portfolio of their work. Performing artists will present one (1) item, not longer than 10 minutes, for showcase. Drama, tragedy, comedy and puppet theatre presentations must be showcased to impress adjudicators.
This is the first initiative of the Department through the newly established Thabo Mofutsanyana Arts and Culture Unit (TMACU). Artists in the district can look forward to regular workshops, informationn sessions, arts dialogues and so on from August 2013.
TMACU is currently operating from a temporary office until a permanent site is secured at which an Arts and Culture Center for the district will be established.
