Swearing in of new Ministers and Deputy Ministers

New Ministers and Deputy Ministers who were yesterday announced by President Jacob Zuma will be sworn in at a ceremony at the Union Buildings, Pretoria today.

The ceremony will be presided over by Constitutional Court Judge, Justice Johan Froneman, representing Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng, who is out of the country.

The following members of the National Executive will take the oath of office:

  • The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Mr LechesaTsenoli,
  • The Minister of Human Settlements, Ms Connie September,
  • The Minister of Communications, Mr Yunus Carrim,
  • The Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mr John Jeffery,
  • The Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Mr Michael Masutha, and
  • The Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Ms Pamela Tshwete.

Ministers already serving in Cabinet as well as Deputy Ministers taking up responsibilities in new portfolios do not have to be sworn in for the second time.
