State President and National Minister to launch three rural infrastructure and development projects in Umsinga

In celebrating 20 years of freedom and democracy and in Building a vibrant, equitable and sustainable rural communities with food security for all, the Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, Mr Gugile Mkwinti, has invited the Honourable President of the Republic of South Africa, President Jacob Zuma to an official launch of 3 major projects (Mashunka Emthatheni and Ngubo Bridge, Tugela Ferry Irrigation Scheme and Msinga livestock sales yard) at uMsinga in Kwa-Zulu Natal on the 4th of October 2014.

The Minister together with the President will first do a sod turning at the Mashunka, Emthatheni and Ngubo Bridge, where the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform in partnership with the Department of Transport will construct a 170m bridge with an estimated cost of R30 million.

Then proceed to officially launch and handover the Tugela Ferry Irrigation Scheme and the Msinga livestock sale yard that are constructed in partnership with the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Land Reform to assist small-holder farmers and the community of uMsinga.
