Sport and Recreation holds inquiry into SASCOC allegations, 12 Feb

Commencement of Ministerial Committee of Inquiry on SASCOC Allegations

The long awaited SASCOC Committee of Inquiry into the allegations of improper governance and non-adherence to the Constitution of SASCOC (SA Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee) is set to commence on Monday 12, February 2018.

The Committee of Inquiry comes in response to numerous and serious allegations of poor governance, financial mismanagement and non-adherence to the SASCOC constitution – and the failure of the SASCOC Board to respond adequately to the Minister on all allegations levelled above.

The Inquiry will be led by retired Judge Ralph Zulman and 2 additional members (Dr. Ali Bacher and Labour Law expert Ms. Shamima Gaibie).

The Committee will handle for the duration of its sitting amongst other elements, leading evidence utilising their experience in the field of constitutional matters, governance and administration. They will also investigate, make findings, report on the outcome to the Minister and make recommendations in relation to the mentioned Board related governance issues and alleged non-adherence to the Constitution of SASCOC.

Eight witness coming from various sport bodies are scheduled to appear on Monday before the SASCOC Committee of Inquiry with more to appear for the duration.
