Speaker Sussana Dantjie Legislature hosts Stakeholders’ Dialogue in Mahikeng, 15 Jun

North West Legislature Speaker  to Host Stakeholders’ Dialogue in Mahikeng

On Friday, 15 June 2018, the Speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature, Hon, Sussana Dantjie will host the Stakeholders’ Dialogue under the theme “Let’s Talk Land Expropriation”  in the Legislature Chamber at 09h00.

Hon. Dantjie is expected to meet with various stakeholders and opinion makers as part of enhancing oversight and cultivating a culture of robust debates within the province.

The National Parliament has mandated the Constitution Review Committee to conduct public hearings, on the review and amendment of Section 25 of the Constitution that will enable expropriation of land without compensation. The Legislature has thus deemed it fit to host the event to create an environment for an open discussion and exploration of ideas prior to the public hearings on the constitution review.

The outreach programme was launched by Hon. Dantjie to afford the Executive an opportunity to account to the people of the North West on the work and commitment by government; and to provide an opportunity for people of North West to engage government and table their expectations.

A panel of expertise consisting of representatives from the North West House of Traditional Leaders; Department of Rural, Environment and Agricultural Development and regional office of the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform; Communal Property Associations; Youth in Agriculture and Rural Development (YARD); Potchefstroom Agricultural College; and Political Parties in the Legislature will attend the event.
