Chief Of South African Air Force Medal Parade to be held at Air Force Base YsterPlaat on 27 October 2023
The South African Air Force (SAAF) will host a medal parade to honor members who have dedicated years of service to the SAAF. This event is scheduled to take place on 27 October 2023 at Air Force Base Ysterplaat, commencing at 10:00. The Chief of the South
African Air Force (CAF), Lieutenant General Wiseman Mbambo, will officiate the ceremony.
These distinguished members will be recognised for their continuous contributions, unwavering loyalty, and the bravery they have displayed in service to the South African National Defence Force (SANDF). The following SAAF members will receive awards from CAF: 2 members will receive the Mandela Medal; 28 members will receive the Tshumelo Ikalateho Medal; and 25 members will be presented with 20-year service medals. Members of the base have been actively engaged in rescue missions and operations along the coast. Furthermore, the base played a crucial role in assisting communities in the Western Cape affected by recent floods.
