The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Ms Tina Joemat-Pettersson will sign a statement of intent with her Argentine counterpart, Mr Norberto Yauhar, on Thursday, 6 June 2013 in Pretoria.
The primary aim of the agreement is to strengthen agricultural development and cooperation between the countries and to promote cooperation at a technical, operational and policy level in a number of fields.
South Africa and Argentina have an extensive relationship in the field of agriculture. To date, Argentina has signed numerous agreements with our country. The signing of Thursday’s statement of agreement will further enhance cooperation between the two countries.

Employment statistics demonstrated an employment growth of 54 000 in agriculture during the first quarter of 2013. The majority of this growth was identified in the rural areas situated in the Eastern Cape and Free State.
