Small Business Development hosts Information and Pitch For Funding Sessions, 20 to 24 Jan

The Department of Small Business Development and its agencies, SEDA and SEFA host Information and Pitch-For-Funding Sessions in Vhembe District

Minister Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, the Department of Small Business Development and its agencies, SEDA and Sefa will host information sessions about small business (SMME) support in Vhembe district. The information sessions will be held in all the local municipalities within the Vhembe district from 20 – 24 January 2020.

The information sessions will include Pitch for Funding programmes that will run from Wednesday, 20 – 24 January 2020 across the municipalities of Thulamela, Makhado, Collins Chabane and Musina. Pitch-For-Funding is an initiative that allows entrepreneurs to pitch their businesses or business ideas for immediate access to both financial and non-financial support. The Pitch for Funding sessions also provides a platform for entrepreneurs to become part of a community of entrepreneurs and create a network of suppliers and partners amongst the entrepreneurs.

The intention of the Department of Small Business Development is to make SMME support services more accessible to the local entrepreneurs in line with the vision of President Ramaphosa of growing township and rural economies. Municipalities as the sphere of government closest to the people and in line with the District-Based Development Model, are the Department’s ideal partners.

The sessions will be hosted jointly with the Vhembe District municipality and the Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) and the Small Enterprise Finance Agency (SEFA), which are the agencies of the Department for Small Business Development.

SEDA will host Pitch- For-Funding Master Classes on Monday 20 and Tuesday, 21 January 2020. The Master Class prepares/ trains entrepreneurs on how to Pitch their businesses for funding and their attendance is essential for entrepreneurs to participate in the pitching. There is, however, no registration required to attend the information sessions.

SMMEs are invited to register for the Pitch-Master Class at the venues within the municipalities as listed below.

To widen the reach, information, master classes and pitching sessions will run concurrently across the four (4) local municipalities, as follows:

  1. Thulamela Municipality: Vhembe Council Chamber
  2. Makhado Municipality: Makhado Showground
  3. Musina Municipality: Musina Showground
