Department of Small Business Development Continues on its drive to empower informal traders
The Department of Small Business Development and Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) will be handing over equipment to informal traders in Sekhukhune, Limpopo on Monday, the 1st of October 2018.
The ceremony will be led by Deputy Minister of Small Business Development, Mr Cassel Mathale together with the MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, Mr Seaparo Sekwati.
Informal traders in Mopani region and Capricorn District have received similar equipment in the last two weeks and other regions will follow suit. The Informal Micro Enterprise Development Programme (IMEDP) has proven to be an effective and pragmatic instrument tailor-made to respond to the felt needs of traders across the country. “We have certainly identified the informal sector as a critical sector that, if well supported, can help create and sustain the much needed jobs in the country whilst making a significant contribution to the economy” Mathale explained

The Informal Micro Enterprises Development Programme (IMEDP) is a specially designed programme that aims to empower and develop informal traders to become skilled and adequately equipped to manage their businesses. It also provides equipment and machinery needed in the sector.
