SAPS Inter-Academies Sports Championships

The South African Police Service (SAPS) will hold the SAPS Inter-Academies Sports Championships from 14 to 19 October 2013 at the SAPS Academy Tshwane.

The Inter-Academies Sports Championships have been held within the various SAPS Academies since 2011 to select the best teams for events such as the Southern African Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (SARPCCO) Games and World Police Fire (WPF) Games. The event also aims to enhance and manage the general physical fitness of trainees and SAPS employees.

Sport is a unifying element and hosting such an event draws future crime fighters closer to one another, not only on the sports field as compatriots but also as future crime fighting colleagues. This year’s teams will comprise of SAPS Human Resource Development employees and trainees from five SAPS Academies; namely Bisho, Chatsworth, Mthata, Philippi and Tshwane. The teams will compete in soccer (males and females), netball, athletics (field events, track events and road race) and debate respectively.

Members of the media are invited to attend.
